Hi all. Since this is somewhat off topic I will keep my posting to the minimum. The BIPP has recently gained some bad publicity from postings on this forum and regrettably I have to say that it is justified.
I was instrumental in requesting the editor of our magazine to ask Neil Barstow to write contributing articles on colour management. Neil was treated deplorably both in terms of copy deadline and lack of complimentary copies. This I find personally embarrassing and I apologise on behalf of the BIPP. So now we have no web site and (yes Mr. Croxford) no forum. Our web site was badly designed and badly out of date. We never had a forum. Almost a year ago the decision was made to provide a totally new site closer in concept to that of the AoP. With a forum. Designs and tenders were invited. For reasons too complex to go into here two or three members of our Council, possibly with their own agendas, have done everything at their disposal to prevent the preferred best design / tender from going ahead. In addition poor communication with the previous web master has resulted in him 'taking his bat home.' Consequently old site pulled...new site not ready! I write this as a very angry and extremely embarrassed member of our Qualifications Board. I am not a member of the Council who make decisions regarding the web site but I would like to assure everyone that great effort has, and is being, expended by hard working people who believe in the BIPP to rectify this ludicrous situation. In summery I would like to say that when a blunder of such magnitude takes place it is all to easy to view the whole organisation as 'stupid'. It is not. It is the 'stupidity' of a few individuals who have given us all a bad name. If anyone would like to know a little more please contact me off list. Craving your indulgence List Mom...
