And not likely to either, until you guys calm down! <g> And call off
the goon squad. Besides, I was just being "Ironic," which I gather is
all the rage with the young folk these days - leave it to us old coots
to get the inflection wrong, I suppose.

In any case, here's been my experience. I've had a G4 for nearly three
years now, burning images to CDs using Apple's Disk Burner, OS9 and the
internal CD drive, and having zero problems with clients running either
Macs or Windows. Lately, two clients have had problems, being unable to
access all the files on CDs I have sent them. Turns out they are running
OSX, and they were able to see and open some of the files, but not able
to even see the balance. The one client I've talked to most recently
said they solved the problem by going back and accessing the CD in
Classic. Perhaps what they did mean was booting in OS9.

In either case, I think this points the way to the solution, which I
leave to those more knowledgeable in the inner darknesses of OSX. While
trying to figure out what the problem was, I tried the CDs in my old
office 7500 (OS 8.5) and also in my XP laptop, neither of which had any
problems seeing all of the files. The client also mentioned they were
able to access all of the files on their Windows machine, but since it
was not always connected to their network, this wasn't a good solution.
Sorry, just reporting the news from here in South Elgin, don't shoot the
messenger.

So yes, to me, this seems like a major flub on Apple's part. If I buy a
new G5, which will not boot into 9, will I be unable to access all the
images I have been archiving for the past three years?

And if painting MS in a better light than Apple is verboten, what is one
to make of...

( :-( or <g> depending, I guess

Enjoy the weekend - Hey, I don't have to work for a change!
