Windows needs something like MacOpener to read a drive that contains a Mac
volume (hence the reason for this thread). Macs, OTOH, can not only read
MS-DOS formatted disks, but can also format them without recourse to extra
software. Except, as I said, Apple now do not include the option to format a
drive in MS-DOS. However, you can still mount MS-DOS formatted drives on the
desktop.
