Do you think a re-install of PSCS would be advisable then? With permissions fixed before and after?
Possibly. But since incorrect permissions can contribute to either the System or the Application, I cannot be more specific.

But are you suggesting that it is sufficient to fix permissions after the install? I don't quite follow...

I certainly don't have any issues *other* than with PSCS...
Are you sure that the cause lies with the application, and not that you are viewing the result, that is the consequence? Do you get my point?

Eh.. not really. If I find that only one application is running at less than 100% I would be inclined to blame the app for the issue, not the OS.

I occasionally use a friend's G5. This thing is well kitted, dual 2mhz, 3gb ram. I'm not kidding when I say that PSCS virtually ground to a halt working with a very ordinary sized image of a couple of hundred mb. There are no other issues on this box, it is very quick indeed.

It has been suggested to me by a guy at adobe that it may be an issue regarding the scratch disk being allocated to an external firewire drive. This is not the issue in this case, I know that for a fact.

Next time I'm on that box I'll give things another spin, making double sure that the file browser is closed.
