If you sign up with Waitrose its free (and they are Mac happy)- you just pay for your telephone calls.
There are also some very good broadband deals at present: Pipex for example will give you 512kb downstream on "wires only" (you buy your own modem and filters) for �23.44 inc VAT per month. They also give you a free backup dial-up number for when you are travelling.
