I have used my S2 for about a year and it could stand a little cleaning, which method did you use?
Dusted with a soft sable(?) brush.
Then I used "Agent Blue" which is the Sinar cleaning product. (However I think reagant grade methanol would do as well). The good thing about their kit is it comes with a chip-width bit of metal you wrap the lint-free swab round, and that creates a good smooth wiping edge.
One wipe and it was perfectly clean again.
