I've not tried that because all of my computers have the larger 6 pin connector, but it should work just fine. The larger connecter has six pins instead of 4 inside of it. The two additional pins carry power which the 14n doesn't use. By using a 4 pin connector at both ends you are avoiding the power altogether. Having power in the cable on one end is why Kodak gives all sorts of dire warnings about making sure the cables are correctly connected and that you connect the camera last. If you have the camera connected first and then go to plug in the large connecter to a computer... and you slip and try to connect without orienting the cable correctly, its possible to send power to the camera briefly on pins that aren't intended to carry it and BAD things can happen. By using a 4 pin connector on both ends you should avoid power issues altogether. I imagine Kodak supplies 6 pin to 4 pin cables as standard since most computers have six pin connectors on their Firewire interfaces.
