Yes, but did you "synchronize" the database with the original files?

This will "push" the changes made in iView back into the original files.

Dear David,

I clicked the green tick icon at top of column which seemed to accept the change but did not "synchronize" the database, I don't think! I didn't want to create a catalogue, just perform the key-wording in the same way as when I use iView to rename files I do not need to save a catalogue. So maybe thats my problem.

Glyn,

That's certainly the problem. If you don't synchronize the changes then the file info data is not attached to the actual image files. To me, this is one of the major shortcomings in iView - I can't understand why they don't have an option to synchronize automatically as a default. You don't need to save the catalogue - as long as you synchronize then the changes are "hard-wired" into the files.

I purchased QuicKeys software and have set up an action for iView which allows me to simply press a function key after entering the metadata and QuicKeys automatically clicks on the green tick box, then synchronizes the files and puts me into the batch rename mode all in one step.

Not sure about the question regarding Raw & TIFF files with iView, I only work with jpegs at the moment as I need the speed when shooting & editing.

Cheers,

Paul Smith
