I see we still have the odd PC Troll living under the bridge :-)) However... How did you remove the Epson software? There are often bits left in the system if you just remove the scanning application. I don't have that scanner so I don't know the locations, but /system/library and /library are likely places. As ever, tinker with files in these locations with care (especially /system/library) If you are lucky there may be an uninstall option lurking in the installer package (but this is an Epson driver...)
