I do agree with most of your statements (I just can't find your original post to quote them).
And I would add a bit of my French perspective: I had repeatedly heard about costumers refusing to work with photographers providing digital files. I would address here the ability and knowledge of costumers to make difference whether a digital picture is technically good or not.
Here there is also newspapers or book publishers who don't want to ear about files processed by photographers: because they have their own scanner to make profitable, and their "unionized" employees who want to maintain their jobs...
