Yes it could work, again provided you use 16 bit and the big kodak space.
The REALLY big cludge comes when you need to assign your custom profile
instead of the one embedded in camera raw.

Yes it's doable, but I'd say it's a very cludgy workflow.

If you want to  use camera raw, use the options available, and forgetg about
custom profiles.

If you want to use custom profiles, use a (any that works for your
particular camera) raw converter, export a 16bit tiff file without any
profile assigned, using either a linear or tweaked tonal response curve, and
build a profile based on that.
