Yes.
If you, in a practical workflow, are interested in using custom profiles on
DSLR files, you should use a dedicated raw converter (or jpeg) and build
profiles on top of that. Ideally this raw converter will later be able to
assign your profile on the fly, and possibly convert to a sensible workspace
too.
