I believe what you are refering to here is the classic IPTC bug in
PhotoShop 7.
Only good solution is to upgrade to PhotoShop CS or disable IPTC in C1.
This can be done by going in to the C1 folder under applications.
Highlight the C1 file, press Apple + I, Under plug-ins remove the check
mark by "IPTC-Plugin"

Subject: Re: [PRODIG] 1Ds / C1 Pro tethered shooting - lost files!

Ulf...

Does this in effect mean that it is preferable to shoot 1Ds tethered in
the Canon software on Mac and then process RAW files in C1 later?

Secondly another question.

Processing 1Ds files on my PC (XP Pro) in C1 I am experiencing random
and very annoying corruption of files. All process fine and open fine
into PS.
However opening again later some display an error message that the file
contains data which cannot be read and asks if I wish to convert to
working profile, despite already being processed as Adobe 1998 and
behaving normally on the first opening.

If I convert the result is a barely visible image with severe colour
distortion and banding. If I discard profile the image appears OK.
However saving as Adobe 1998 or converting to Adobe 1998 produces the
same result on re-opening. The only work-around seems to be to create
another empty file and paste the suspect file into it which is very time
consuming.

If the corrupt files are copied to Mac they exhibit the same corruption
but if the same RAW files are processed on the Mac the problem
disappears.

Any thoughts?
