Since upgrading to the latest version of C1 (3.5.2) I have not had a problem shooting with my 1Ds shooting tethered to a 12" Powerbook.

It's important that the Powerbook is set so that it doesn't go into 'sleep' mode, and that the camera is set to RAW only and auto power 'off'. I try and shoot with the camera and laptop plugged into the mains.

In the past I've always tried to keep an eye on the thumbnails appearing on screen to make sure the connection is still up. I've never lost an image after having seen it's thumbnail.

If I were you I'd wipe the hard disk and start again from the beginning in case some other conflict or corruption has got in the way (as I use the Powerbook for C1, Photoshop and iView only it wouldn't take too long - your setup might make this a less attractive option).
