I suspected my problem was due to the CIS. Running purge prints seems to have cured the 'pin stripes.' I think I need to run one more purge print. Raising the printer, which was level, btw, has cured the 'splodges or barcodes.' Realigning the heads seems to have cured the 'coarse' printing. As none of the above problems existed before I fitted the CIS, I was pretty confident it was the cause and wasn't going to throw the printer out without a fight!
