I insist that the issue was entirely PRODIG - Professional Digital. I have argued on a couple of occasions that defining PRODIG as cameras only is too removed from the real world of digital imaging.

I couldn't agree more. The process of getting digital images to my client either for proofing or final delivery in a an efficient manner has been one of the more challenging issues I've faced in recent years. I replied at length off list with some of my experiences to Bertho's question on Web Galleries. I do so not because I thought it was truly off topic, but because I've seen so many of those threads cut short by the list mom over the past few years. I think those discussions are very relevant to the professional digital photographer's workflow... and at least as important as discussions about how to make a color managed print from your desktop Epson.

And to the question that started this whole thread... the relevance of an extended(?) thread on Extensis Portfolio... I don't use that particular software but I'm facing growing pressures to manage a growing volume of digital images. I find any discussions about better ways to do that highly useful. I've only recently begun to start cataloging images with keyword searching in mind. Any discussions about how to do these things more efficiently are of great interest to me.
