from what i've seen, the buildout.cfg file is OK with plone4_buildout.
one thing could be improved, namely that the default plone version
should be 4.0-latest instead of 4.0.1.

why i'm asking is, i'm in a team, writing a developer tutorial for
linuxmagazin.de. and paster is generally a good start.

Paster templates live in their own development cycle and do not follow Plone minor releases. ZopeSkel is updated now and then when someone finds enough
time to look after it.

pity it's not.

but then a plone buildout is no longer very complicated and won't change that much from now on other than the version file referenced.

There is a slight documentation hole however.

Clicking plone.org > Downloads > Plone. Gives us a general description of plone

There is a note at the bottom which says "If you are using Plone 3.2 or higher, you probably want to install this product with buildout. See our tutorial on installing add-on products with buildout for more information." with a link to tutorial on adding addin products... confusing if you're installing plone for the first time and haven't considered addon products yet.

OR

You can decide that install docs might be on the "documentation" link on the right hand side. The first link there is "installing plone" but it only gives instructions for the unified installer or windows, not directly with buildout.

So I can see for a first time user this could be very confusing.

I am not sure is it possible to have x.x-latest style versioning with
buildout, but this is a definitely a change I'd like to see too.

Can anyone tell whether this would be possible or not?
