Kim and I were talking that if we do this again next year, we'd have a place in mind ahead of time, with printed maps/directions, and phone numbers of local attendees that could help out if attendees get turned around. Live and learn, and learn, and learn.

Not to be persnickety (now there's a word I don't get to use too often!), but something in the same place as where the attendees are staying is important. People who are going to their first conference might feel out of place and not want to "impose" on the others, so by having everyone in a central location onsite it will be much more likely that someone will stumble into us and join in the conversation. I enjoyed the conversations I had the two nights I went out with the group, but I missed meeting and talking to those who weren't at my table.
