I am going to fall back on Mr. Turing's work. If you, as a program, can tell you are running on a VM, then the VM is at fault. This is all theoretical of course. There are many courses of legal actions that can be instituted, depending on the specific circumstances. The key is to take those actions as an individual acting pro se. Or you can buy a new case with power supply and split your Vista box into two non-Windows machines and get twice as much done for half the price.
