Today I've seen horrific news of wildfires all around the Southern
California area where I live, and a few hours ago 60 Minutes aired a segment
about the dramatic increase in fires. As we probably all know, the cause is
a combination of global climate change and excessive fire suppression over
the last hundred years.

The news report indicated that we may lose half our forests to these fires
because of the extreme nature of the events.

I have actually been paranoid about going to bed tonight for fear that a
fire would pop up out here and we'd get caught in it and never get out.

Fortunately, we do have a warning system -- 10 Siberian Huskies.

Any thoughts on the wind-driven wildfires?
