It is still profitable in the short term for certain business and financial
interests, therefore good for business - but necessarily good for an economy
in the longer run.  Let the long term take care of itself, eh?  What
politician sees beyond his or her own immediate need to get elected, or
reelected, and go down in contemporary history as being a "good leader"?
