Filtering works if you know that there's good content among the stuff 
you're filtering. If you sign up for ProFox, read some solid 
technical posts, and then see a bunch of stupid OT posts, you might 
well say "I'll subscribe to ProFoxTech." Or if you see some thoughful 
OT posts before the stupid ones, you might say "I'll read OT but 
filter the authors of the stupid posts." But if the first several 
things you see when you subscribe are stupid OT posts, your reaction 
might be "What a cesspool! I'll find a better Fox list elsewhere."
