I have a client who offered to install a sewer line to
an adjacent home near a new development he was
building. Since the ground was going to be open
anyway, he thought he's offer to allow this homeowner
to connect to the city sewer rather than continue with
her septic tank.

After it was all installed, she refused to pay. When
he called her a couple times to get paid, she sued
him. It turns out he was only licensed in that town
to do new construction not home improvements. So now
he's going through a ton of legal hassles just because
he thought he was being nice to an old lady.

No good deed goes unpunished.
