        Granted. The question is whether they are cooler than the new stuff  
outside of Microsoft.

        It seems that for many, especially those who claim an anti-Microsoft  
bias in others, the Microsoft solution is the default, and as long as  
that's good enough, that's what they choose. Their knowledge of the  
breadth of choices outside of .net is generally pretty weak.
