I use VNC on almost a daily basis, and that does work well enough. I
just don't like the small/grainy/fluttering imagery of webcams. Maybe
it's a personal thing or maybe I'm being insightful as to what the
"tipping point" will look like.

It's basically a matter of bandwidth, and while this area is now wired
for fiber, but it's not generally available yet.
