Are you licensed to carry a weapon, or is this all going to be over the telephone? Does your client use an application you created to track progress in his collections efforts? Just curious.
It seems to me this is the kind of task that takes really thick skin, and a willingness to screw with the minds of the folks being called on to pay up (guilting a person into paying, for example). I think I would be asking for 95% of what I collect - a nice way of saying no thanks. It is not in my nature, personally, do try to squeeze blood from a turnip. On the other side of the fence, were I in a situation where I was being called by a collection agency I would be the type of person who would use every simple and legal means at my disposal to avoid being contacted in any form other than writing, and any correspondence better be sent via a trackable means, with signature required, otherwise it would "likely get lost". And, of course, I would not sign anything that I was not expecting. So any such correspondence would be returned as "refused by adressee". There is a lot of info on the Internet available for folks to use if they want to make it hard for a collection effort to succeed. IMHO 8.75% seems a small amount for all the effort I would anticipate one would have to go through. Then again, maybe most folks are not hardened targets that know how to circle their wagons. But, after a brief moment to ponder this matter I am curious about what it is really like to be inside the collection industry. If you go for it I would be curious to hear what you learn.
