I remember one guy who used to let everything roll off his shoulders.  He was a 
real pro at it.  He would just hold the phone away from his ear until the 
screaming ended, then he would continue on as if nothing happened.  Then he 
would hang up and have a laugh about how nasty the debtor was.  He would never 
yell back and never give the appearance of being the least upset.  If they hung 
up, he'd call them back and say "I think we got disconnected", knowing full 
well that he was hung up on.  He was a great collector because in the end, he 
collected the most. 

I wish I could be more like that.  When someone drops the f-bomb on me, I lose 
my cool.

It's a crazy business.   You have to convince people that it's in their best 
interest to pay.  It's like closing any sale, there are all kinds of techniques.
