Well, if baseball bats are not part of the fringe benefits I say forget it!

So, you already got a taste of what it is like to be on the collector's end
of the line, eh? I can only guess it is a very dark place to walk around
in. It was bad enough when I was setting up a Customer Service Center for a
car dealership many years ago. I was asked to take on the added
responsiiblity, although I was their IT guy, for a 7 store group because I
had a lot of previous experience with arbitration for auto repair disputes.
I told the owners I would only do it if I have the authority to fire anyone
who was not willing to work with me, from a General Manager down. Their CSI
was so bad they agreed to it, and within a few months we moved the needle a
lot. But, in the meantime I and my personnel were taking all kinds of heat
from unhappy customers. Many of them with just cause, we had some real
schlock (non)managers. Part of fixing the problem was replacing a lot of
middle, and a few upper, level managers that had piss poor attitudes. I
could not even begin to imagine what it would be like having to work as a
debt collector.
