BS. I've been around the world quite a bit. Indeed, I'm heading to the
UK for a month next week. So, I'm no backwater rube.

I even had my appendix removed and caught samonella in a non-US health
system. The contrast between those experiences and a micro-discectomy
in the US in 2004 could not be starker. The back surgery was more
expensive, true. But my insurance, which was not expensive, covered
most of it. But I can barely see the scar, whereas it looks like I was
flayed with a giant butter knife in roughly the location where my
appendix used to be.

There are reasons people flock to America for the procedures that save
lives. And it's precisely because we haven't nationalized our health
care system.

Is it perfect? No. The only reform you actually described previously
was TORT reform, which I agree with. The notion that the people who
brought us Cash for Clunkers can run health care better than the free
market is nonsense. Most of the problems with our free market have
been the clear result of distortions created by government
intervention. This is how the housing market collapsed -- under the
dead weight of government do-goodism.
