Unfortunately his plan wasn't a small step, but a complete overhaul of the medical system, and a very poor one at that. In fact, it wasn't even his plan but instead a mishmash put together by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. Obama was too lazy to create a plan for himself.
Instead of insuring the uninsured, which would have cost only about $150 billion a year or far less if it was partially paid by the recipients, he wanted to create a huge bureaucracy to have a complete government-run health care system. That might work in Canada with 33 million people, or Australia with 21 million people, but not in America with 330 million people.
