Hi Nicolas,

Remarks here are not aimed at you since you're already a pymel user, but
more to try and understand what could keep others from using it.

One thing I don't understand is since it's open source why would you
have to rewrite anything even if development stopped on pymel? You could
just keep your own repository of it's source and maintain it to your
needs (possibly only the parts you need if you feel you are not needing
all of it).

Of course you can write your own library on top of pure Maya Python but
given some time you'll probably end up with something similar to pymel,
with the same requirement to maintain it yourself.

Now I would understand people being concerned about design decisions in
pymel that don't fit the way they'd do things as a reason not to use it.
But since it's open source and it has an active mail list / group, you
can express these concerns here and suggest alternative designs.

Duboi? Otherwise you can mail me off list if you want to check open
positions at Attitude
