Ignore IPCMOUSE 1 - I am suffering from always having used the default IPCMOUSE to use port 6 - mid connector underneath the pcb - and marked 'mouse' Most likely your system is using this port. IPCMOUSE or IPCMOUSE 6 should do the trick.
If not, then either you are not using a serial mouse, or the lead is faulty.
