Ian, thanks for pointing out my URL error, you are quite correct it should be :
http://www.bountiful.demon.co.uk/qdos/index.html As to where the hard disc information lives - I believe it is usually on the very first sector of the disc (same as floppy) which, for the life of me, I cannot remember if it is at address 0 or 1.
