Hi Michael,

this is usually what GPS devices or smartphones are used for.  For instance I 
do not print maps at all. It's the other way around. I digitize papermaps to 
be used by QMapShack and my GPS. The only feature I use, is to export the map 
with a track to a bitmap. To be part of a photo album.

I know some users print the map with a track to be used for orientation on a 
bike tour. But for the sole purpose of a map I think a good commercial hiking 
map is way better investment than printing maps from the internet.
