I definitely agree with you Paul on all points. Wonder how we get Microsoft to fix Visiomodeler given that it was always free and unsupported?
They have no reason to get it working under Win 7 (it *will *work on Win 7 under Virtual XP - but our Network Manager won't do it across the LAN because of security concerns and policy restrictions) So I think we are stuck between a rock (Visiomodeler is awesome but unsupported and doesn't work under Win 7) and a hard place (Visio EA costs $$$ and there's no alternative) Cheers David Ô¿Ô¬ On 19 February 2010 15:10, Paul Herring <[email protected]>wrote: > > > My 2c worth: > > > > I have found nothing that comes close to Visiomodeller in its ability to > create CSD’s from the elementary fact sentences including nested fact types. > > > > It also encourages the use of population checks which for ORM are the real > secret to success. > > > > The issue now though is getting it to function under Windows 7. > > > > While ORM may not be ‘industry standard’ (many still use ER), I believe it > is an excellent design tool at this stage of the development of students > considering Information Systems as a career.
