Ya... you males who have 'external plumbing' have that option (condom caths).
 
I've heard equally good and bad from females or males on getting a suprapubic.  The cath is still going in the bladder so it's not THE solution either.  Bladder augmentation is scary to me.  There are so many surgical f-ups these days and messing with the bowel isn't a cool idea for me.
 
A neurosurgeon nearly killed me in '95.  I have no faith in the health care industry anymore.  :-(

I feel for you and I totally understand what you are going through.  Every single time I am cathed I end up with a UTI.  Sweats, shakes, high temperature etc. just kill me.  Since I have been using a condom catheter I have not had a UTI for over 3.5 years.  I do not remember the type of bacteria that I would get but Cipro would not touch it so they gave me and antibiotic that started with L. Like I said, it's been a long time since I had a UTI.

 

I'm sure I can speak for everybody here.  Hang in there and we are feeling for you.
