Bowel regimes need to be very consistent. That's not true. I have used a bisocodyl suppository every third morning for 29 years. I usually take fiber pills and a stool softener the day after the bowel regime and the day before. If I need to change the day and do it a day earlier, I take a senna pill the night before. I restrict my diet to about 1200 calories a day.
The wild card is anti biotic's. They can cause diarrhea or constipation. I follow every anti biotic with an acidophilus pill about a half hour later.
Everyone has a different system. The stranger things that I find that effect my bowels are soda pop, coffee and alcoholic drinks. I find I can eat about anything as long as I don't eat a lot of any one thing.
Mostly, I'm very regular. I go on the morning of the third day at about 8:30 am. I sure wish the nurse would get here before 11:00 am.
good luck

I have been experiencing perplexing problems with my bowels over the last eight months myself. I keep thinking it has to be something I am eating, but I have eliminated almost all of the foods I regularly eat at one time or another. Sometimes I have problems with gas pains, other times my bowels are rumblings so bad I feel as if I need to bowel care right then and there. Aggravating me also was the continuous fluctuation between constipation and loose stool. I have been taking a fairly decent amount of fiber every day, but it does not seem to prevent the occasional onset of constipation. After suffering for quite a few months, I decided to try a medication which my doctor prescribed, but I was really hesitant to take. It is same medicine which is used to clear individuals out for colonoscopies (go litely [spelling]). He initially prescribed taking 1 tablespoon dissolved in water every day. I tried this but it induced my bowel regimen later that night. I finally came up wi! th a reasonable amount for me and it turned out to be a half a teaspoon of the product on bowel care days (since I do my regimen at night). I still have some difficulties and the pain is frustrating to say the least, but most of the time I seem to function better than I was previously. It seems as if my bowel sensations, of which I use to only be able to tell when I had a bowel movement, are much more strident and acute. What I wouldn't give to have a little less feeling in that area.

I have also developed more sensation in my buttocks, but this is not necessarily since some of the pains are phantom pains. All of this increase in sensation, which I did have quite a bit more than many other quads and I know had, has ironically coincided with my 10th year of "Quadom" in April. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced what I now referred to as "the 10th year phenomenon?"Billy

My pain and discomfort began w/ abdominal stuff too.  After 4-5 yrs of procedures (GI series, ultrasounds
CT scans, etc) with everything being 'negative' ... I finally had an MRI and a lengthy syrinx
was found.  I did have a shunt put in but it damn near killed me.

The spine can cause pain ANYWHERE.  Cyst or not.

I'm a C-5 incomplete, 11 years.  The pain is a burning pain in my
colon, started about a year ago.  Started out pretty mild, but has
been getting progressively worse ever since.  Had a colonoscopy done
last January, all they found was "mild" proctitis and a grade 1
internal hemorrhoid.  Gastroenterologist prescribed annusol
suppositories, no relief.  General doctor prescribed proctofoam, no
relief.  Back to the gastroenterologist, prescribed annusol cream, no
relief.  General doctor told me to keep trying the proctofoam, also
had me take a stool sample to be tested for parasites/bacteria.  I
never heard back from the General doctor about the tests, so I called
them a few weeks ago.  The receptionist said there was a letter about
the results in my file, but only the doctor could open it and he's out
of town for a month.  I made an appointment to see another doctor in
the same office, was supposed to go on July 20, but turns out she has
a meeting that day, was rescheduled to July 27.  Hopefully I'll have
more luck with a third opinion, thought I would ask her about the DREZ
procedure.
