HI ALL, I WROTE A FEW MONTHS BACK ABOUT HAVING OSTEOPOROSIS -3.8 . I STILL HAVE
NOT BEEN TREATED. I AM GOING TO A BOSTON DR,REHAB SPECIALIST, TO SEE IF SOME
WEIGHT BEARING EXERCISE OR FES WOULD HELP ALONG WITH, EITHER FORTEO OR RECLAST(
FOSOMAX IS THE SAME) IS IT DANA WHO IS ON FORTEO? IF SO HOW LONG AND ANY SIDE
EFFECTS? HAVE YOU HAD A DENSITY DONE SINCE YOU STARTED FORTEO? MY DR THINKS
MEDICARE WONT PAY FOR FORTEO BECAUSE I AM NOT MENOPAUSAL YET. I STILL DON'T
KNOW ABOUT ANY OF IT WORKING FOR US BUT AM AFRAID OF FRACTURES. I TAKE 1200
CALCIUM AND 50 THOUSAND VIT D A WEEK FOR NOW BECAUSE MY D WAS LOW WHEN TESTED.
I WILL LET YOU ALL KNOW WHAT BOSTON DR SAYS. MY APPOINTMENT IS IN APRIL.
Best,
Shirley Bell

Dan I've seen people build their own equipment or friends. 3 X 8 piece of
1/2 inch plywood with belt straps and footplate form. On the back, several
notches for different angles. Where there is a strong family and a defined
will.... there is a way.

  Best Wishes

And you CAN DO IT with proper standing therapy. I wish you the very best!

Standing therapy and simulated standing therapy is a great way to
place pressure on the heel, knee and hips. Daily pressure like this goes a long
way to prevent and reduce the effects of bone density loss. Granted, I realize
that it is not easy for most, but for those under the direction of a physical
therapist, its a great way to tone the bones for pivot transfers.

I don't know what my number is, but I am on a good medication.
I take Forteo injection one time a day, 750 CG.

I will be sure and ask next time.
Does anyone else take D3 plus calcium three times a day.

I do not recall what my number was, but mine was low too. I
have to take a pill once a week and was told to eat Tums daily.

My testosterone was very low too.

My bone density is -4.3; so I have osteoporosis. Does
anyone else have numbers this low? I am a c5-c6 21 yrs. post; a mere 44 year
old male with what.... not enough female hormones (ha-ha).

                    Thanks-
