I do a lot of standing and it helps me a lot, I have a standing frame which I
love because it has the hand gliders where i strap my hands on and someone
moves them for me, that helps a lot for circulation and bp, at first it's
difficult but it gets easier the more you do it. I also have a walker with arm
supports which I use for standing, it takes 2 people to get me up but once i'm
up only one sitting on a chair in front of me holds my hips and blocks my knees
with his knees, it's pretty easy and it really feels great. Here's a couple
pictures of what I'm talking about

walker is from a thrift store and it cost 20 bucks!!

Make sure you get permission from your primary physician before doing standing
therapy. When I tried it about 10 years ago, my physician gave me the
go-ahead, but doesn't believe it helps keep the bone density up. It does,
however, help with spasticity as well as making people feel better.

I had too much problem getting up in the standing frame. It required two
people and a tremendous amount of effort. Not to mention the fact that I was
too tall for the frame. It ended up causing more pain to my neck and shoulder
then it was worth, so I turned the equipment back in

Dan I've seen people build their own equipment or friends. 3 X 8 piece of 1/2
inch plywood with belt straps and footplate form. On the back, several notches
for different angles. Where there is a strong family and a defined will....
there is a way.
