I hardly ever have blood pressure issues, if I get a bit lightheaded I just have someone press on my stomach and I'm ok. I do this both with physical therapists and at home, my mom and this guy that is not a therapist but has been helping me exercise at home were taught how to stand me like that by my therapist, it took about 1 hour or less for them to learn, there's really not much to it, it also helps that my knees lock out pretty good, if they're not locking out it just takes a little shake to trigger that spasm that helps to block the knees. It also helps me to lean forward like to do a back extension, that will make my legs react and my knees lock out.

I also have a walker with arm supports which I use for standing, it takes 2 people to get me up but once i'm up only one sitting on a chair in front of me holds my hips and blocks my knees with his knees, it's pretty easy and it really feels great. Here's a couple pictures of what I'm talking about http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t79/LISSW/HPIM0629.jpg http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t79/LISSW/HPIM0631.jpg. By the way, the walker is from a thrift store and it cost 20 bucks!! From: [email protected] To: [email protected] CC: [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected] Make sure you get permission from your primary physician before doing standing therapy. When I tried it about 10 years ago, my physician gave me the go-ahead, but doesn't believe it helps keep the bone density up. It does, however, help with spasticity as well as making people feel better. I had too much problem getting up in the standing frame. It required two people and a tremendous amount of effort. Not to mention the fact that I was too tall for the frame. It ended up causing more pain to my neck and shoulder then it was worth, so I turned the equipment back in Quadius On Thu, Mar 4, 2010 at 3:19 PM, <[email protected]> wrote: Dan I've seen people build their own equipment or friends. 3 X 8 piece of 1/2 inch plywood with belt straps and footplate form.
