Hi,  Hosni-- I was told that about half the spinal cord injury people get a
syrinx,  The situations are different for each person---in some cases it
remains in the same area never causing much problems..OR it can spread or
elongate over time--either very fast or very very slowly over time. It can
cause increased pain and spasms as it damages more nerves.  Most doctors
nowdays do not like to even try to perform surgury for this UNLESS you are
losing more body function than you already have. The surgury is very dangerous
and can leave a person completely paralyzed or even cause death. Mine has
spread from C-6 (cervical ) to T-2 (thorasic )  Not many doctors are real
familar with this operation-- I believe the top known surgeon for this in
America is Dr.Falci ? at Craig Hospital. The surgury is very, very expensive
also.       Dan H.**
