I know nobody's been waiting for my 'results,' but I'll tell you anyhow, in
case it might help someone else.
I hadn't seen a urologist in 25 years. I've been using a condom cath/leg bag
for 30 years and really expected him to give me bad news. We did an ultrasound,
a urodynamics and a cystoscopy and all came back great. No kidney damage and my
bladder was ok, although I was retaining too much urine before voiding.
Essentially, my bladder fills up before voiding, which means there's too much
urine sitting in there allowing UTIs to form.
I was sure my urologist would suggest a suprapubic, but he didn't. Even though
my prostate is 'normal for my age,' [I'm 49] he suggested we try Flomax to
loosen up the prostate and relax the bladder sphincter. Well, it has only been
a week, but I can say I've noticed a big difference already. I no longer sweat
when I void. I don't wake up with perspiration-soaked sheets, and my urine is
looking clear. I seem to empty out earlier and more completely. I hope this
continues.
I'm not ruling out the suprapubic someday. In fact, I think it's likely, but
for now I'm happy not to have to have that surgery. I know we're all different,
but wanted to share my experience.

PS. Seeing the inside of my bladder was a trip.
