I get checked every time my urine smells bad. There are going to be "things"
in
the culture but they can tell if there is an infection starting. Your body is
trying to reject the rubber tube just like it does with heart or lung
transplant.

Please do not wait to get it checked. AD & any infection can be deadly.

AD decreased overnight, still a little uncomfortable. Hope I don't have to go
through this every time it's changed.

They did irrigate, that hurt like hell too. They told me the only time I can
be
checked for a UTI is immediately after the new tube is placed. Is this what
anyone else has been told?

They did take a sample to culture, results on Monday.

Thank you for the replies.

I have to agree with Dave. When they changed your catheter did they irrigate
to
make sure that everything is working okay? Also it is important that they
insert the catheter all the way in. It's easier than you would think to have
the catheter partway in. I had this happen once in the pain was horrific and I
did experience AD.
