Setting up an ISP account once OT and OT/PPP are installed is darn close to identical on any Mac OS. ISPs, unfortunately, don't want to expend the financial resources (quite logically) to "support" anything older than 8.1, despite the fact that it *wouldn't* be any more trouble as long as the system is running OT. By that logic, you would argue that any Mac that can't run 8.1 is worthless because they aren't "supported" by an ISP. News flash: the Quadras aren't "supported" by Apple either. That's the whole point of LEM and these lists, if you ask me - to provide the missing support. HFS Plus isn't possible on anything before 8.1, but as Mark and I discussed earlier, it's really not an issue with disks smaller than 9GB unless you need larger-than-2GB partitions for some reason. And HFS Plus still isn't an example of a *program* that requires 8.1 to function. I still challenge anyone on this list to name an example of a productivity application that requires 8.1 that does not also require a PPC. Apple System Profiler doesn't count, especially when you can get the same information in much more detail from TattleTech or TechTool. the pickle FAQ <http://macfaq.org/index.shtml> Software Archive <ftp://download:[EMAIL PROTECTED]//Users/thepickl/Sites/Archive/> _________________________________________________________________ -- Quadlist is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
