The Quadra seemed to "freeze" more often while downloading a particular webpage, or while working to display an HTML email message or one that included a JPG. A few times it just froze completely, necessitating the 3-finger reboot. I put it down to, websites that may have advanced coding or elements, where Navigator v4.08 (the latest she can run on Mac OSv8.1) just couldn't handle the data, or the 840AV itself just couldn't handle whatever.
The G3 never locked up, and it can run OSv9.2.2 and will be able to keep up with newer browsers for some time to come. It has 6gb HD, 192mb RAM, etc. And since I need a new Mac anyway, for OSX and faster testing reasons, it seems to make sense to give her my G3. And the SCSI CD-burner and Jade2 scanner.
I will probably keep the 840AV myself and think about using it in some way, when life clears up a little. I also still have a IIci.

What browser is she using, and how much RAM does the 840AV have? I'm willingShe needs something faster, as she is encountering such slow web-surfing as to really frustrate her.
to bet throwing a bunch of RAM in there and using iCab with the cache on a RAM
disk will be on par with a low-end G3 as far as download speeds go, and pretty
close in page rendering.
