I wouldn't expect the ones beneath the gear lever to affect the change
much, they're just for noise abatement.

There's another bobbin-type bush at the gearbox end, part of the
gearbox steady rod. Do you mean that one?
I've had a replacement for that one in the glovebox for a couple of
years, going to fit it when I put the modded gear linkage in place.

That won't be for a day or so though; I've got to re-work the existing
linkage due to a previous bodge - drilling the holes and bushes for
one of the pins oversize to eliminate previous wear. To fix this,
I'll have to weld up the enlarged holes, file it all back into shape,
and then re-drilling at 8mm.

Chris : yes, I was going to use stainless bolts with straight shanks
as well.
While I have all the stuff to make the threaded pins anyway, I don't
see why zetecinside did it the hard way when bolts would be so much
easier.
I'm also thinking of making some sort of cover from a short section of
bike innertube (or similar) and some tie-wraps.
The bearings are sealed anyway, but anything to keep the dirt out has
to be a good thing.

I've also got to consider whether to pull the rest of the gearlever
mechanism off and fit the plastic sliders that I bought many moons ago
and never fitted. That can probably wait a bit longer, I'm not
touching the gearlever this time around.
