Certainly no gate on the gearstick end - just some rather feeble
'centering' springy thingies. And from the feel of it, no gate in the
box either... though it claimed to be 1989, Ford boxes are so
interchangeable it could have been anything.

Anyway, it was *horrible* and I'm well rid of it!
