Hi Luke When I SVA'd my saloon I got insureance using the vin no.and as I understood it the vehicle is insured by the owner driver only for purposes of the journey to and from the test. I was stopped 5 times once by an armed police because no reg plates, so I got a transporter for the retest. But yes it is legal as long as you have the letter and you insurance cert with you..
