I had this problem on my 2+2. The inboard CV joint on the balanced shaft was
the one that caused me a problem. I had real trouble finding the correct
replacement part, when I did it lasted on 200 miles. I spent many hours trying
to come up with a solution. In the end I gave up and used it as another reason
for the engine upgrade. If you do manage to solve it I would be interested to
find out what it was, cost me a fortune!!

I haven't gotten around to dismatled the CV / Driveshaft this time
but....

The first failure seems to be caused by the Driveshft "pulling" the
centre of the CV joint out of its casing.

The centre was still attached to the Driveshaft and the ball-bearings
were left behind in CV casing amongst the grease.

The metal casing holding the centre in seems to be fairly thin metal
which distorts.
