I always understood the rear quarters added some strength due to the bonding

All of the above questions with glass could be answered.
As some of you know, I do work for the wheeler dealer program on the
Discovery Channel.
I know that one car that I worked on for Edd China involved making windows
from scratch. The first template is very expensive after that it becomes
rather more reasonable than you could imagine. This means that if we as a
club could get enough owners together, making glass for the Mk1 and the
opening rear quarters for the Mk2 is not impossible to do.
I will see if I can get a contact to find out
